Transitioning from Data Sanitizer to Managing PII
Previously, ChangeGear utilized a Data Sanitizer to remove sensitive information from datasets, ensuring the privacy and security of PII. The Data Sanitizer feature had drawbacks, such as the inability to recover or view original data using role-based access control (RBAC) and handled only tickets. To overcome the drawbacks and to provide the ability to configure and protect PII to conform with GDPR and other geographical standards for PII protection, we are transitioning to a newer approach for managing PII. Customers who currently utilize the sanitizer can continue to use it; however, the sanitizer is being deprecated and will eventually need to be disabled.
Disabling the Data Sanitizer
ChangeGear installations with Data Sanitizer enabled will need to disable it to use the new PII feature.
Warning Data previously processed by the Data Sanitizer feature cannot be retrieved in it's original form.
To disable the Data Sanitizer:
-
From the Web Administration page, navigate to Global Settings > General.
-
The disable option is only available if it is enabled. Select the toggle next to Data Sanitizer to disable it.
-
Click Save
. The option for the data sanitizer is no longer displayed and you can now select the toggle next to PII to enable it.
